FSD Ferretti Security and Defence, Ferretti Group’s division dedicated to security purposes, participates at IDEX-NAVDEX in Abu Dhabi, one of the most important global exhibitions of the naval defence and maritime security sector. During the exhibition Fincantieri and Ferretti Group announced that they have signed a co-operation agreement regarding a wide range of activities, with the aim of developing industrial and commercial synergies between the two, world leading Italian companies in their respective sectors.
Moreover, few days ago, another agreement has been signed with a new partner of Ferretti Security and Defence, SIHAM ALKHALEEJ Technology LLC, a leading provider of the armed forces of the UAE, with whom Ferretti is going to cooperate to implement its strategy in this particularly important geographic area as for the security and defence sector. FSD presents at Navdex 2017 for the first time on the international market, an innovative naval product for both military and paramilitary applications, represented by the 20-meter long FSD195 fast patrol vessel. With a range of over 500 miles, it is capable of average speeds of over 50 knots.
The new FSD195 has been outfitted at Ferretti group’s Cattolica shipyard near Rimini and launched on the last August. During the following sea trials and the seven-days, 1,100-mile transfer cruise in the Mediterranean Sea, the ship demonstrated significant seakeeping and reliability capabilities despite frequent severe weather and sea conditions. During Navdex, FSD195 is on display and available for sea trials with a new camouflage special painting, equipped with a combat system centred on weapon and surveillance systems provided by LEONARDO Group, one of the leading global defence system groups and now partner of FSD.
The ship will display a HITROLE remotely controlled naval turret with 12,7 mm gun and a Janus’ day and night multisensory surveillance and target designation system. FSD195, in the Fast Attack Craft configuration, can also install a couple of Marte Mk2 missile launchers on the stern of the cockpit and a Rheinmetall armouring kit on the boundaries of the operative area. FSD195 will display also an innovative dual band satellite telecommunications system provided by Skytech (an IDS company) mod.BB50 and gyro stabilizer SEAKEEPER mod. NG9. NAVDEX hosts almost 100 exhibitors and over 100 thousand visitors of the security industry from all over the world on an area of 6000 square meters.
The event provides a dedicated and focused platform for naval defence and security companies to showcase their technologies and services to an international audience while promoting their latest equipment and crafts. NAVDEX is held alongside IDEX, the International Defence Exhibition and Conference and features an exhibition hall for visiting ships, a pontoon for smaller crafts, daily water demonstrations and an outdoor display area. Following the exhibition in Abu Dhabi, FSD will continue its path of participation at major trade fairs and the next event, which will showcase the latest innovations of the division will be IMDEX of Singapore from the 16th until the 18th of May, 2017.
